It’s sunny and beautiful here in Cleveland Heights this June and we’ve got tons of grads getting jobs all over the place.  Jennifer S just got a job at J Cheers in Barberton, way to go! On the national side of things Katie G and Nick S both just got placed in Pennsylvania,
Sebastian is working in Atlanta and Chrystal H. just got placed in Orange County CA. We have grads all over the map!

In other news Will is fresh back from Orlando where we were awarded the President’s Award for Best School.  He also found the time to explore some bars around the Orlando area.

The Leadership Conference was a great time, and there was a lot to learn. There were even two Social Media  Giants there to help us get more comfortable on the world wide web, so look for us around, and don’t forget to like us on Facebook at  facebook.com/clevelandbartendingschool.

That’s it for this installment of June news, but stick around because we’ll have more for you shortly.  Enjoy the weather and have a cold one for us!

May is winding down and although the weather is dreary, our news is still happy! Our grads are getting hired left and right.

  • Joe D. graduated Monday morning, interviewed Monday afternoon and was working Monday night at the Bier Haus in Strongsville, way to show them how it’s done Joe!

  • Peter G also got hired at Executive Caterers and Jennifer R got 3 job offers in Toledo.
  • On the national front, Greg D recently got placed in Fairfield Connecticut and Mike S was placed in Arizona! Our grads are really going places.

  • There’s a new tequila sheriff in town and we are pleased to welcome them! Tequilador is unveiling their new tequila and we have the honor of hosting a tasting. On May 20, 2011 we will be having a tasting during our sours and margaritas class. All current students and past graduates are welcome to come!

  • We are also busily readying ourselves for the annual leadership conference in Orlando Florida, which will be June third and fourth. Florida is the number one state to bartend, with all the sun, sand and the tropical drinks! Not to mention the thirsty vacationers!

  • A new European lounge, opening in Mooreland Hills has contacted us for our help creating a list of 150 signature drinks. Keep your eyes peeled for more news on that, because you know you’ll want to head out there and try them out.

  • Last but not least. This past Sunday, flair tender and CBS instructor Robbie Flair taught a flair class.  We had a nice turnout, one of our instructors, Katie, two grads Charlie and Renan, current student, Alex and current bartender, Jennifer all learned the basic tricks to make a few extra bucks behind the bar. Everyone had a ton of fun and learned some valuable flair skills.

  • Stay tuned for more news, we’ll keep you posted as it comes.  Keep your eyes on our Facebook for our drinks of the day, school events and other fun happenings. We hope to see you all at our tequila tasting!

It’s hard to believe that March is already over! It was another busy month for us at the Cleveland Bartending School. Here are some highlites:

  • Beth, who graduated from our school in 2009, is our new office assistant! Before she came to help us around here, she was bartending at the Caddyshack Lounge in Downtown Cleveland. We’re sure glad to have her around!
  • Milton and two of our grads, Jenny K and Monique A, bartended a party at Trinity Lutheran Church this month. They really had a great time and got to show off their skills!
  • Milton is still placing our students all over the area! Sasha just got a job at TGI Fridays in Mayfield Heights and Jessica is working at Jack’s! Way to go ladies!
  • Our nationwide job placement has struck again too! Kerry just got placed in New York City and Lisha got a job in Greensboro NC! Our grads are really going places!
  • We’re excited to offer a new study aide to our students! An electronic flashcard program that helps you learn drink recipes, study them and then tests you on what you’ve learned. They’re a great way to get started or to keep the drinks fresh in your head. The program is only $24.95; you can find it at Clevelandbartendingschool.com!
  • While you’re visiting our website, be sure to check out our lists of Cleveland’s own sweet 16 places to drink and elite 8 drinks to try. If you’re sick of visiting the same old haunts, we’ll help spice up your nightlife!
  • Our director Will, Nashville Bartending School’s director Dave Edwards and Roger Oldham, the author of our mixology textbook all took a trip to Florida this month for a week of dining, drinking, and research for the next edition of the textbook. They stopped in Big Pine Key the home of the famous no name bar. Then it was on to Key West to check out Hog’s Breath, Captain Tony’s and Schnare’s Wharf where they said hello to Michael McCloud, a local favorite. They also enjoy the Isla Mirada’s bikini contest, oh the things we do for our students!

That’s all the news for this month, but while we have your attention, Will wanted to tell everyone to try the new alcohol infused whipped cream. It comes in a ton of great flavors and it was invented right here in Cleveland! Like Will says, you just have to take one for the team!

That’s it for March guys! Enjoy the sunshine and the warming weather and keep your eyes peeled for more new from us here at the Cleveland Bartending School!

True Confession

A Confession From Erika

I decided to become a bartender because I love meeting and interacting with new people, and I also love going home with cash in my pocket!

Bartending gives me the freedom to work my day job and make extra money at night! Believe it or not, it's also a great way to network with other people in the community!

My favorite drink is a Pink Pear Martini: Grey Goose Pear Vodka, 7-up, and a splash of grenadine!
